Celebrations: Year of the Snake

CNY-SnakeStamp

Kung Hei Fat Choi …  in my past life in fashion..  I used to spend many weeks a year in the Far East and I have a real fondness for Chinese traditions and superstitions.  This Sunday (February 10th) is Chinese New Year – or the Lunar Festival (as it coincides with the Lunar cycle and not a specific date every year).  It is also the Year of the Snake…

People born in the year of the Snake tend to be regarded as intelligent, but with a tendency to be somewhat unscrupulous..  The Snake is the sixth sign and is the enigmatic, intuitive, introspective one of the twelve Animals Signs.  Legend has it that the order was decided by a race, and the snake sneaked ahead of the horse by hiding on its hoof. They also say that a Snake in the house is a good omen because it means that your family will not starve… as they are usually very good with money and tight too! Snakes are adventurous spirits and love to take risks. They are also very intelligent and often a fountain of creative ideas.

Each year is further defined by a variety of the animal (influenced by a mineral and colour).  2013 is the Year of the BLACK WATER SNAKE.  This year is meant for steady progress and attention to detail… Focus and discipline will be necessary for you to achieve what you set out to create (isn’t that always the truth?).
Water Snakes are especially lucky with finances, they always seem to have money flowing their way. The colour of the 2013 year of Snake is Black. Black color is the colour of Space, Arctic night and darkness in other words the unknown! (drum roll please)

The Black Snake will bring people unexpected changes and instability. That is why it is important in the year of Snake to plan everything beforehand, and check the details!!  Being more cautious than usual to reach your goals.  It is meant to be a good year for business – as long as you CHECK THE DETAIL!…  looking for holes in the loops and seizing new found ambitions and responsibility.

The downside – Snakes are fanatics who can spend as quickly as they earn – so make sure you are methodical and focused, or any goals achieved can quickly disappear! Business plans at the ready folks!

Right – horoscope done….  its off to deck our halls with red and gold, and get in a take away from our superb Chinese in Arundel – The China Palace…  oh and how gorgeous is the Chinese stamp celebrating this year.? Delicious use of colour..
